Apart from this, the centre has a large collection of the student diploma projects, craft documentation reports and other research projects. The KMC also showcases the Design Classic Collection.

The collective strength of all resources at the KMC is aimed giving the power to provide services under one roof with online facilities to the faculty members, students, researchers and the corporate bodies and institutes associated with design.

Design Classic Collection

In 1959 when India has started concentration on the programme of Industrialization the Indian Government had invited the Museum of Modern Art to organize an exhibition of their collection as “Design today in America and Europe” to the Indian public at different places of India. It has been planned that objects in the exhibition will remain in India as a nucleolus of a permanent design collection and the objects were handed over to NID and are in possession of the Institute.

The collection is mostly a display of furniture and other products from internationally celebrated designers like Charles Eames from the US , Le Corbusier from France, Marcel Breuer and Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe from Germany, Poul Kjaerholm from Denmark, Bruno Mathsson from Sweden, Eero Saarinen from the US and Hans J Wegner from Denmark and others. This Classic Design Collection was founded to encourage the study of design and inspire designers with examples of highest standard. These were designs for the everyday life in Europe and America, and emphasizes on the challenges that designers face, with respect to new material, new technologies,  design processes and of course aesthetics. Some of the designs were very artistic and truly classic and captivating.
