Discipline Faculty, New Media Design

Bhaumik Nagar joined NID in 2007 and has 17 years of work experience. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electronics and did his master’s in computer engineering. He teaches Interaction Design, Embedded System Design, Technical Studies-II, Multisensory Design, and E-enabled Apparel Marketing and Merchandising at NID.

One of Bhaumik’s most significant projects at NID was the creation of an interactive help manual in Gujarati for primary agricultural credit societies in Gujarat so that they could use the Common Accounting System introduced by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD). Based on live examples, the multimedia CD was visually appealing, comprehensive, and easily understandable. The other key tasks Bhaumik has undertaken at NID include the upgrading the NID website by using CMSbased web design, designing the web application to support Open Elective registration for students, designing a web application that provides support to prospective employers and enables students to register online for training/diploma projects and jobs during Industry Interface, and implementing Google Apps for NID’s email facility.

Bhaumik is currently pursuing a PhD and is conducting research on the Semantic Web, an artificial web of data that facilitates machines to understand the semantics or meaning of information that is available on the internet.
