Mamata N. Rao joined NID in 2005 and teaches at NID Bengaluru. She has cumulative work experience of over 16 years in educational and private organisations
in Hong Kong, Sydney, and India in fields such as architecture, creativity, multimedia and development of web-based interfaces. She holds master’s degrees in
Design Science (Design Computing) from the University of Sydney, Australia and in Urban Design from School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi. Her areas of teaching and interest include: creative thinking, spatial perception in retail environments, user experience design, interactive media, space planning, and information architecture. She has various publications to her credit and has coauthored the book Creative Tools published by the School of Design; Hong Kong Polytechnic University in November 2005 and the chapter, Creative and Visualization Tools in Context
of Design in the Handbook of Research on Trends in Product Design and Development: Technological and Organizational Perspectives published by IGI Global in 2010. Mamata is currently the Principal Investigator for a three-year project titled: ‘Arts, Artifacts and Architecture of Bazaar Streets of Hampi’, that looks at digital reconstructions and is funded by Department of Science of Technology, Government of India. She is on the Board of Studies for Department of Architecture, B.V.B. College of Engineering and Technology, Hubli. Presently, Mamata is a member of the Scientific Review Committee for 14th International Conference on Engineering and Product Design
